This quite a dark but magical read set deep in a Bavarian Forrest. I love historical reads and if there is a bit of magic and myth, and of course a big quirky and gothic house thrown in that’s even better, and this book has it all. The characters all come to life with the author’s vibrant and magical writing, all with their own difficult histories and secrets and some are definitely not all that they seem, but they all play their parts so well as the story comes together perfectly for its magnificent finale.
It is definitely a coming age of novel with a very big difference as the story starts when a cherub gets swept in to Cassie’s bedroom during a big thunderstorm after which a number of dark events seem to spiral out of Cassie’s control. As dark forces start to gather it’s up to Cassie to try and work out what is happening and protect all those that she loves.
