A different world
I felt like I was diving into an unknown world while reading this First Look. I liked how in reading this I was immediately parachuted into a warzone, but with that intensity I found myself looking up what words meant and researching Kurdish history.
I also found myself wanting to know more about Joanna Palani. How did she end up in this situation? I hope the rest of the book tells this story.
I like the fact that there's still so much passion that comes through in her writing. But I think with that comes an oversight of the people's ignorance of this war.
The writing drew me in and I definitely would have read more, I was just glad I had Google on hand.
