Ex volunteer, unfortunately many lies
Since being a volunteer and noticing Joannas lies on social media and fake news I always ignored it, like all volunteers do. There have been many volunteers who came to make a name for themselves, parading about with the media any chance they got.
I have noticed the ones that should have media coverage chose not too.
A lot of YPJ/YPG did not have nice things to say about Joanna, the reasons are because she would constantly talk, but bring nothing to the table. And when hevals arrived she would rush to grab her Kalaşnîkov and as if it was an attack, even though everyone knew it was a friendly visit. This wasn't die to her trauma because gerîlla would not act the same.
All her stories make me cringe. On her second return the hevals did not want her, but reluctantly accepted and again she managed to piss everyone off.
This will probably be seen as jealousy, and I know it is not my duty to reveal someone's true colors, but for some reason people have not clicked on yet and it has been going on for too long.
There are courageous and brave volunteers who have gone to rojava and some who still remain there, Joanna is not one.
Although one good thing is that this book outlines some of the realities of life on the frontlines, just not her reality.
