I didn't really enjoy this

Whether it was the style of writing or I couldn't warm to Joanna Palini I really didn't like this book very much. I found the chapters about her and her family coming to Denmark very interesting. The way her parents kept living and with the same attitudes to family life as they had in Syria and Joanna fighting against this and wanting to act and live as a European. It must have been so hard and she did rebel against them, taking drugs etc. I admired her need to go back and join the YPG. She saw awful things which were well described. I felt the Danish government should not have charged her. Maybe I would have preferred her story to be told in a chronological way rather than jumping back and forth.
