Interesting and brutal
The conflict in Syria has been at the forefront of the news all over the world for quite some time but in truth very few of us can understand what it is like to experience it first hand. This book gives the reader to the brutal realities of the front lines of a war zone and an insight into what that would feel like.
This was a personal story about this woman's inner feelings and thoughts about the fight she was part of and I also felt like I learnt a lot about the context and history of the conflict as well which I didn't know before. Her story is so fascinating as it is from a female fighters perspective and whilst the politics surrounding this subject are complicated and fraught it was helpful to read a real first hand account.
