This is not my typical read but, after reading the preview, I was intrigued as it was told from a female perspective. Even more so that it was written by a female that is similar in age to myself.

At times, I struggled to get into the book and found it difficult to pick up and read continuously.
The writing style was simple and easy enough to follow but I felt that, at times, the writer was trying to fill the pages with information that didn't necessarily need to be there, however, I can understand why she had written it.

Having said that, I liked the fact that Palani gave you an insight into her background and told us how her childhood in Denmark as a refugee was conflicted as she had "Danish rights and freedoms, but Kurdish laws and culture." You find yourself feeling sorry for her and how difficult it must have been to please both her family and friends whilst trying to find her own identity.

Overall not a bad read, just not a book I would be in a rush to pick up again.
