The start of this book reminded me a little of the lovely bones with the character who has died looking down on everyone he knew. It then moved on to similarities with 13 reasons why, but rather than having the tapes, Danny has created letters for people.

In the first few chapters there is just enough information to make you wonder what happened to this group of friends and what it could be that caused them to grow apart. It seems like there is much more to it than the standard growing up and finding they liked different things. It also sets up a level of interest as to what these awful secrets are that they don't want anyone to know.
