This book has sadly failed to live up to my expectations after the first impression.

I thought this was going to be a dark and suspense filled tale of secrets and fear of discovery. Instead this is very much a light easy read exploring the emotions of change and returning home after long periods of absence.

This story is split into 2 time lines, now and back when the characters were in high school together, and is mostly told from the perspective of Ruby and her interactions with her "crew" of friends. These changes are well managed and add to the story instead of breaking the flow-which isn't always easy for an author but works here.

The plot begins well with one of the crew committing suicide and leaving notes threatening the revelation all of their individual secrets and was a great opener and a really good premise.

Unfortunately the story doesn't really develop in that kind of thriller, twisty theme that it seemed to suggest.

We don't really get an insight to many of the crew and the secrets which I thought would be the key focus are side-lined pretty quick.

It's more of a easy-read focused on exploring character dynamics in a group that's drifted apart, than a good storyline, and the author has a tendency to repeat information a lot which quickly becomes an annoyance.

The big finale is basically a juvenile slanging match between supposed adult friends half of whom have very little to do with the story other than their names constantly being mentioned by other people.

Sadly I didn't enjoy this one.
