I give this story four stars. It was a good story and well done for a first book.
The plot deals with some very difficult and dark themes; abuse, drugs, abortion and suicide. All of these topics are dealt with empathy and understanding. There is no glamourising or exaggeration.
The suspense about the secrets is kept throughout the book, we are drip fed clues throughout and it is real to life in that we all have secrets and we never know the full extricate what others around us have or are found through.
The book is told from multiple points of view and time, past and present.
Over all I enjoyed this book. It’s not a particularly light read but I enjoyed it nonetheless. I would likely try other books by this author.
