The crew are a group of friends who spent their school years as a group who stood together through thick and thin in a small town. Danny seems to be the most troubled of the group and often called on his friends in the crew to help him through difficult times.
When school is left behind Ruby went to make a new life for herself away from her alcoholic mother and the first boy she gave her heart to. All the crew members don't really have the same closeness they had during their school days but they do all get back together to attend the funeral of one of their group.
The book opens with Danny's funeral where the crew all get together to say their final goodbyes but they are shocked to find that before he committed suicide, Danny left each of them an envelope with a big secret they kept from the other clan members.
Throughout the pages we gradually learn these secrets although the crew members still try and keep theirs to themselves.
I really enjoyed this book which introduced us to each crew member and shared their secrets with the reader.
There is a sadness which runs throughout the story and it isn't a light hearted read by any means and I was hoping that there would be a happy ending for those left behind but whether there is or not, I'll leave it to other readers to decide.
