I desperately wanted to like this book, having been a huge fan of the Troy of the Yard series I eagerly anticipated this book and was sorely disappointed. I got to about a third of the way through this book and finally decided to call it quits. This did not feel like an enjoyable read, my attention was waning throughout and I felt no desire to read about Guy Burgess and his many conquests, drunken antics or indeed the vulgarity in the writing. The plot felt like it jumped around a lot, leaving me feeling like I had to go back and re-read passages to try and work out where I was or what was happening. This just felt so far removed from the previous books of the series and a huge disappointment. Book felt like it was filled with unnecessary waffle in places and several parts could have easily been cut out without making any impact to the plot itself. Overall a bit of a let down and feels like the "spark" has gone with this series.
