I found the opening chapter in which Robert receives a message purporting to be from his mother intriguing and slightly creepy. The idea that someone might be hiding behind a curtain (a fear I'm sure we've all experienced as a child) sent chills down my spine. The chapters that follow - the discovery of a body and social worker Michael's fears for one of his clients who seems to have gone missing - give a sense that this will be a skilfully constructed story with plenty of tension and surprising turns in the plot. It certainly drew me in.
