I was excited to start reading From the Shadows as it sounded like an interesting story and right from the first chapter I was gripped and wanting to know more. I found the mystery of the story fascinating, especially in contrast to the beautiful setting but at times the pace did seem a bit slower than I'd have liked. I think the character of DI Monica Kennedy was a very interesting character and I like how we got to know about her home life as well as her work life. The twists and turns throughout he book kept me wanting to know more and I was surprised with the ending. I really enjoyed reading From the Shadows and think it is a great debut novel. I look forward to reading more from this author.
