This book is full of atmosphere, set in Scotland (which appeals to me) with the stunning background of the remote and dramatic Highlands. Centring around DI. Monica Kennedy and the discovery of a body on the coast; the story follows Kennedy's journey to catch the perpetrator of the crime.

Alongside is a quest of a social worker, Michael Bach, to find a missing client.
This is certainly an enjoyable debut and there's lots of potential for the series development. The plot and the pacing are good with some tension fulled twists and workable red-herrings. A little predictable at times, but when you're a crime novel reader, it's hard not to find predictable elements. This didn't spoil the reading though.

All in all a decent debut novel - a happy reader.
