I really enjoyed this debut novel, and will be looking out for more books by this author.
Set in the highlands of Scotland, it follows DI Monica, and social worker Michael after teenage boys go missing or are killed. The book is set mainly over a period of just over a week, and moves along at a good pace, with the characters developing and becoming more rounded as the days go on.
I think there is scope for a series featuring these leads, and their differing takes on a situation. Monica is a strong lead, although not always easily likeable.
There were twists and turns in the plot, but a few felt a little predictable. This though did not detract from my overall enjoyment of the book, and I would recommend it to any fans of crime fiction.
