I absolutely loved this book from the start. DI Kennedy's shows the struggle of a person balancing motherhood whilst trying to the best job possible at work and is something I easily relate to. I loved its setting in the highlands and how its wildness was described throughout. There were lots of the characters that could have been part of the murders and I certainly didnt guess correctly. Michael Bach the social worker was a great addition and integral to solve the disappearance of Nichol and ultimately find the culprit. Even at the end it leaves you second guessing as to the involvement of some of the characters. This is a wonderful first book of the series and I look forward to reading many more. The question of who Lucy's father is still remains unanswered.
