This rural crime mystery set in the Highlands fitted the description of a good thriller and I felt it got off to a really good start with good pace and interesting characters.
This continued to be the case probably for about the first hundred pages or so but then ,for me, it seemed to falter. The plot didn't move on quickly enough for me and there were several new characters brought into the mix who may or may not have been involved in the murders. I kept wanting it to get back on track as the new sub plots seemed too much of a distraction from the initial mystery.
I felt that the main character D I Kennedy has potential for future development in the forth coming series and I will watch with interest to see if this book appeals to other readers of this popular genre.
