This novel drags into the plot of this novel from the start, from the funeral of a police officer set currently - who are they? What happened to them? You are then taken back to the start of the incidents that assumably led up to this death. An incident with a man coming across a kid who has been stabbed and trying to save his life while the kid's friend runs away because he is too scared about the consequences for himself.
This feels an interesting book because gang culture seems to be such a big part of some teenagers lives throughout cities in the UK. I feel it may provide an interesting insight to this particularly as the author has worked with some charities that work with kids who have experienced this lifestyle.
I like that the extract doesn't just focus on the police officer point of view, as many crime novels do. It gives the book a more refreshing perspective.
