Set in modern day London, this book starts with the stabbing of a 17 year old boy and leads us into organised crime, drug wars and undercover police operations. Although I found there were a few too many characters at first (an awful lot of police officers were involved in this case), after a while it made more sense and became more involving.

The author obviously has a great understanding of the way in which the police work, I found this interesting. Her characterisation was very good, Ryan (our main teenage character whose best friend was stabbed) was described with a lot of empathy and fragility which was touching. The police officers were all very human.

The only grumble I have is the opening chapter which describes one of the officers at a funeral - obviously for one of the other main characters. I thought this was unnecessary. Overall though, a good read.
