This is the third in the series of London based novels featuring DI Sarah Collins and DC Lizzie Griffiths although it is the first one I have read.
The author, Kate London, was herself a former police officer and the story about the lives of teenagers and gangs is entirely credible and realistic. So too is the portrayal of the lives and dilemmas facing the Metropolitan police officers who try to contain the drugs, knives, guns and other crimes committed in the capital.
Sarah Collins is the (thanks to Val McDermid) seemingly obligatory, Lesbian officer whilst Lizzie is a single mother trying to juggle childcare with the difficult hours and unusual demands of a police officer.
The conclusion of the book promises some interesting new scenarios for Lizzie and her son, Connor, in the next book which I am already looking forward to - I shall also read the previous 2 books asap!
