I do love a good crime novel - they're usually a gripping, fast and furious read. The synopsis suggested this would be no different but I really struggled to feel involved.
Based in London it is certainly very current, based around gang, drug and knife culture. The trouble was that I didn't really like any of the characters - fair enough if you're talking about corrupt gang lords but I didn't really like the cops either. I found it a little confusing at times trying to remember which cop was in which team and who was investigating which crimes.
It all starts with a knife murder - trouble is they don't want to dig too deeply into investigating it as it may compromise 2 years of undercover Police work, as they try and arrest the King Pin of the whole operation, Shakiel.
It's not bad - and perhaps if I were a Londoner (rather than a country bumpkin) I may have felt more of a connection with it. Ultimately though it was just an OK read for me.
