I was eagerly awaiting reading this book. Though the narration is excellent and the chapters well set out the subject matter is just too dry. Gritty I believe one initial review read. That would be a word I could use. Too much is made of the relationship between the two boys. It felt that everything was being explained instead of letting the reader engage with the storyline and push forward.
The subject matter of crime, and in particular stabbing on our streets is totally relevant but the picture this book paints just leaves one feeling rather dispondent.
Not the exciting book that the book cover conveyed at first look. I’m sure there are many readers who will get to grips with this book and enjoy it, but unfortunately, I am not one of them.
