I was really interested in reading this book because I am just getting into crime novels and I thought that this book was really promising to start with. A young boy getting stabbed and his friend seeing it and trying to help without getting caught himself but I got a bit lost after the first third of the book and I didn't pick up what was happening properly until the last third. I did manage to read this in one sitting and I liked the two detectives and their different ways of working. I just would have been interested to see some more of the other side or the undercover work. All in all, it was an easy read and I didn't think i have missed anything by not reading the first 2 books in the series.
