I really enjoyed the opening paragraph to this book. The scene was set in minute detail allowing me to create a clear picture of the room in my mind and image of the family who lived there. The dialogue between the father and daughter and the start was well written in a way that suggested a greater depth of character build up to come, and that we would find out more about the grandfather despite his prompt demise at the start of the book.
As the story starts to unfold and more characters arte introduced I found myself wanting to go back to the initial characters and equally wanting to follow the story lines of the new characters, in short I felt like I was becoming sucked in.
I was hesitant to read through to the end of the pages offered because I felt that I would be disappointed to get so far and not have access to the rest of the book.
All in all a great first impression. The cover in intriguing and sets the tone of the book, the vivid descriptions and fast pace of the action right from the start make this a book that I would definitely be interesting in reading through to the end.
