Why would an elderly woman seemingly happily married with two children and four grandchildren suddenly kill her husband after receiving a telephone call from a caller who said one word - Geiger? This is the mystery Gustaf Skordeman presents to his readers in his debut novel, Geiger. Stellan, an eighty five year old former television presenter, and Agneta have been looking after their grandchildren while their parents have a break but now the parents have returned. They are all outside packing their cars and getting ready to leave when Agneta gets the fateful call. She doesn't even wait until the cars have left before shooting her husband in the head and preparing to flee on an old bicycle, taking a rucksack into which she has thrown a few items in an attempt to make it look like a robbery not realising that one of her grandchildren has left behind a much loved toy and they are on their way back to collect it. As Agneta suspects the call was monitored and now operatives are on their way. One of them, Karla Breuer knows this means the terrorist Abu Nasil, who she has been after for many years, has been activated. Meanwhile the police have been notified and one of them contacts Sara Nowak, an officer working in the prostitution unit who knew Stellan and Agneta's daughters to let her know of Stellan's murder. Sara immediately decides that she's going to be there despite not being a part of the unit. The author has written a compelling mystery story that will pull readers in from the very start.
