I liked the gentle opening and then the sudden change of mood although I did get a bit confused between all the family members. The idea of a murder that may have been some time in the planning, by a very unlikely sounding assassin for which we don't know the reason is intriguing, as is its connection with a known terrorist. It's a book I might be tempted to pick up as a holiday read but I wouldn't rush out to a bookshop to buy it (even if this was allowed).
