I was engaged in the plotline of this book from the first chapter. The descriptions of the characters had a lot of depth, and I could imagine what they looked like from the offset.
I enjoyed engaging with the families interactions, and could see their distinctive personalities, and how this impacted their reactions to certain events.
There was a sudden turn of events in the middle of a chapter which I had not expected, and made me excited to read further into the story.
I also thought that the cover of the book was new and innovative, and would encourage me to pick it up if I were to see it in a bookshop or library.
However, there were a number of characters introduced in the first couple of chapters, and it was a little difficult to keep up with who was who.
