In Stockholm first chapter sets the scene of the leave taking of 70 year old Agneta and her one-time famous husband, and their visiting two daughters and grandchildren. As Agneta waves goodbye the phone rings and one word - Geiger- is spoken. Agneta calmly shoots her husband and prepares to leave the house. She is a sleeper, has been waiting for this call for many years...Meanwhile in Germany a monitoring unit picks up the call and a terrorist alert is activated. Back in Sweden, There is a somewhat wearing chapter about a police stake out. The policewoman gets a call, there has been a murder of a one-time famous man. It’s a high concept, Scandi Noir – a thriller of the year, or at least that’s what the blurb says. Found it utterly unengaging. I’d read it if there was nothing else on the shelf and probably get into it but not really for me. Actually, I think I have read it or something with a very similar storyline anyway!
