Well this one totally blew me away - WHAT a ride! Another one which the word unputdownable was made for.

The book starts with one of the most explosive and enticing beginnings - a grandmother gets a phone call with just one word spoken, ‘Geiger’. She immediately goes and shoots her husband of decades in the head and goes on the run, and so begins one of the most exciting spy thriller novels I’ve read since I Am Pilgrim.

Sara Nowak, whilst not officially on the case, is our main lead who is trying to piece together the unexpected murder of this man who she used to call uncle. Sara usually works on prostitution cases, but suddenly finds herself embroiled in a web of lies and mystery dating back to the Cold War, where she can’t trust anyone, and the stakes are as high risk at it gets, with thousands of European lives at risk.

Sara is a brilliant character - very angry, dark, and somewhere on the edge between upholding the law and breaking it. The book is a surprisingly powerful look at the exploitation of people within the sex industry too, which I wasn’t necessarily expecting from an edge of your seat thriller - this goes deeper than you might imagine.

But oh, what a thrill it is! Clever, fast paced, action packed and full of surprises from beginning to end, this is a sophisticated spy thriller debut which fans of Daniel Silva should enjoy.
