After reading the synopsis I was in, you couldn't read that and not be intrigued!

The opening is brilliant, Agneta puts down the phone and shoots her husband; Uncle Stellan in the back of the head... Love it! Unfortunately I don't think the rest of the book lived up to such a brilliant and intriguing start.

I feel this book didn't quite hit the mark for me, the opening was brilliant, captivating and interesting, then long chapters of slow burning plot and an unnecessary amount of Swedish place names. If more than half had been left out the story wouldn't have been altered in any way. I enjoyed the back and forth pov between Sara and Agneta it worked well to build a background picture from both sides with a twist I didn't see coming.
Unfortunately I couldn't find a connection to any character which I feel added to my struggle, finding it difficult to want to read on. I found there was a lot of side stories that had little to no relevance to the narrative, some parts just didn't seem to make much sense while others were very unrealistic.

*Trigger Warnings*
What I wasn't expecting was some rather descriptive accounts of sexual assault and rape including that of children.
