from the first page this fast paced ,intriguing story draws you in as you get to learn about some of the characters in this story including grandpa stellen who is fairly passionate about his flower garden and enjoys more of a quiet environment which you can see in the way he is hiding from his grandchildren in his study whilst his wife cooks for them and drives them to school, we also quickly meet his daughter lotta who is nothing alike him looks wise as she has very dark hair an her fathers was a light colour , on the second page near the end and the beginning of the third one we see her 'ageing' father through her perspective and its almost as if he isn't quite the same person, she describes him as 'stooping' implying that has shrunk quite a bit, she also points out how he's missed parts of his face while shaving , it gives the impression that she is perhaps feeling like he's getting very old and possibly might be leaving at some point in the book
