I was really intrigued with this book after the first few paragraphs. A seemingly ordinary old couple, looking after grandchildren and waving them off lovingly as a phone call is received. The code word 'Geiger' is given and then the wife takes a gun shoots her husband and leaves her life. It appears there was a plan set in place years before and has now been completed but why and for what reason is the start of the story.
This really sold me on the story but there is actually more to it and the story appears to be mainly based around Sara who is investigating what has happened. Sara has been written to be quite unlikable, seemingly appropriate for her job but as a reader she is not endearing and so I found myself a little annoyed with her which ruined some of the story for me. I also found the book covered a lot of history and background, which yes is needed, although it did get a little confusing for me.
All in all a good read, not a favourite, but it was not an easy read as there was a lot to remember.
