I am really torn into how to review this book. I was expecting a spy thriller and in some respects this was a good example of it.

However I really feel that this book needs to come with a big warning that it also includes a lot of very graphic descriptions of child sexual abuse. I was not expecting this aspect at all from the synopsis. I don’t feel it was necessary for the novel. Especially not in the graphic and extended way it is described.

I think the book tried to be too many things. It was both a Cold War spy novel and a look at sexual violence against women and children. I’m not sure they needed to go together.

The ending was powerful and gripping, however i was left feeling confused, either I missed the significance of the neighbour or it is setting up for a sequel...

The relationship between Sara and her mother was interesting but not given enough time.
