Having absolutely loved 'We were liars' by E Lockhart, I was really excited to get stuck into her latest offering 'Genuine fraud'.
This book had all the makings of a great book. The timeline works backwards over the course of a year so we know the ending and then are working back in time to understand how events have unfolded to lead us to this point.
I'm a fan of non linear timelines if done well and this was a pretty good example of it being used well. It kept me interested until the end.
Something else I really enjoy in novels is an unreliable narrator, and we certainly have one here.
However, for me this book fell slightly short of being a great book. I didn't feel particularly invested in any of the characters and by the end of it, I just felt a little 'Is that it?'
Not a bad book by any means but not the great book I was hoping for
