For anyone wanting to read a page-turning YA thriller which will leave you second guessing all the way through, I thoroughly recommend this book. Best selling author E. Lockhart once again has a powerful impact on you with a tale of lies, deception, and destructive friendships.

Jule and Imogen are orphans from opposing backgrounds. Jule, is trying to reinvent her past and her life. She's strong, a fighter and a master of deceit. Imogen, 19, is a spoilt heiress, who lies and has a habit of running away from life when it suits her. She can be demanding and often tries to reinvent herself.

It’s a fascinating experience getting to know Jule, as you pick up the various truths she drops in between the origin story she’s created for herself and the ever-changing landscape of lies she’s living.

I was reeled in from the first chapter. Unlike many YA reads, most characters in Genuine Fraud aren't too likeable, but -of course- it is protagonist's view of them, who happens to be an unreliable narrator. There's a couple of twists that will keep you on your toes and I found myself constantly questioning outcomes, though some events were rather predictable.

As this novel is told backwards, it takes quite a while to even form an idea about what had happened, and it is an intriguing style that encouraged me to keep reading.

This is a clever story with more twists and turns than a theme park rollercoaster.
