I read and LOVED "We Were Liars' by E. Lockhart and had high hopes for this book but overall it just really let me down and disappointed me. I'm not sure what it was.

Also, please bear with me as it's been a few years since I read this and my goodreads review simply states "I’m just confused and feel this was lacking something??" which isn't really helpful.

In "Genuine Fraud" we follow Imogen in what feels like a backwards timeline. It's like we start at the end and go backwards... or maybe there was flashbacks like a dual timeline... but either way, it felt.. so obvious what was going on to me? Unlike "We Were Liars" where I got to practically the last page and was shocked, I was waiting this whole time for the book to catch up with me.

It seemed really smug, like "aha got you" when in reality I was sitting there thinking... I worked this out 200 pages ago? and it just left me wanting more, but not in that good way
