This was okay. Not great, not terrible.

It was different from any book that I had read, as the chapters work backwards until the very end, which was a weird concept to get around at the start. Yes, it made it interesting, leading me to ask questions immediately in the first chapter, as secrets were gradually unfurled and revealed over the course of the book.

This format, however, did make the book confusing. Given I had never read a backwards-progressing book before, I just could not get used to it. Things happen to characters, to then not see the effect of that after they had happened, because you are reading back in time. It was innovative, but I personally just could not deal with it.

The characters were flawed and a bit interesting, but generally, I just wasn't really bothered for them. I wasn't captivated by the story very much and I cared very little, but there was a bit of interest there otherwise I would not have finished it.

All in all, it's okay. Read this if you are looking for a unique format and an interesting reading experience, but I would not expect to be particularly captivated and drawn in.
