The way that this story is written, going backwards in time from present day to where it all began and then working back to present day again was something different and not something I can think of seeing in a book before. Although a novel idea, it really didn't work for me and I found I was confused about what was happening, having to pause my reading to go back a page or two to re-read and try to work it out. So this definitely lessened my enjoyment quite quickly.
I struggled to connect to or even like the characters in this book, the protagonist came off as very unlikeable and I honestly don't think I cared too much about her.
I think this may well be a "marmite" book, readers will either love it or hate it, unfortunately it's just not the book for me.
