I got a review copy of this book from Readers First in exchange for a review!
Now I finished this on the 16th and I've been trying to think about how I'm going to write my review for three days. My head is all over the place because I can't decide whether I enjoyed this book or not.
I've read E. Lockhart's We Were Liars, but for the life of me I cannot remember what actually happened in that book whatsoever. I liked Genuine Fraud but it wasn't what I was expecting at all, I guess I'm a bit let down. This was supposed to be a YA, Thriller, Mystery but I didn't get the thriller/mystery feel about it like I usually would when I read one, for example when I read, One of Us Is Lying, S.T.A.G.S or even Daughter of The Burning City, and DOTBC is just a fantasy mystery but it had me on edge more than this did.
Genuine Fraud is practically written backwards, we end the book at chapter one, so it got a little confusing so I had to go back a little and look at dates on each chapter to figure out whether we had gone backwards or forwards in time. Because in this book we follow a girl named Jules, we find out during the book how she got to where she is now and why she is running away from this cop. It was very anticlimax and I wish it was a little more exciting but maybe I guess that's what you get for a contemporary thriller? I don't know.
I don't have a lot to really say about this book, I liked it, it was alright but I wouldn't read it again, I think I must've felt the same way about We Were Liars because I don't really want to pick that up again to find out what that was about.. I just don't think I'm keen on E. Lockhart's thriller/mysteries.. I've never read her actual contemporaries but I'm not in a hurry to give them a try.
