This book is about the toxic friendship between two girls. I think E. Lockhart has a real gift at writing teenage girls and their thoughts. However, I never fully invested in the story of Imogen and Jules. While I started off really enjoying this book, I thought the ending was extremely weak. It just wrapped up way too neatly. Also, the plot device of telling this book backwards was just so unnecessary and distracting. I understand it was probably done to add a little drama to this pretty typical mystery/thriller, but it fell flat for me.

I also recommend that nobody read any reviews about this book because it sort of spoiled the experience for me since I knew what was going to happen.

E. Lockhart is a great writer and I loved We Were Liars, but this book didn't impact me as much. While I think this book does have an audience, it really wasn't for me.
