Spectacularly effective opening scenes...

As a rule I have little tolerance for high octane thrillers, as the action scenes serve only to provide mere window dressing rather than any 'intelligent' plot development.

Following this punchy introduction I could barely catch my breath, but "Ghost" possesses the suspense and intrigue I approve of too - so a big thumbs up from me so far!

Perhaps that's due to the strength of the personalities I've met, especially as they don't feel like replica action figures, or maybe it's how their story has been relayed as events are spectacularly effective during these opening pages.

Anyway, it would be good to know who put the 'Cat' amongst the tourists (along with 'Dog' and 'Fox') and why have the other team have been called away so abruptly.

The one thing concerns me is that this is a series. As I've not tackled books one or two previously the clincher is... could it be read as a standalone? If so, I would love to discover more.
