Well if this first impression is anything to go by James Swallow has kicked this the third installment of his Marc Dane series off to a flying start!

I loved Nomad when I read it, and Exile continued this series in a great way.

This opening look sets the level of action right where you want it to be, no explanations or context needed, just straight in to an assassination on your POV character.

This immediately drew me in to the story and completely lived up to my expectations in the first intro chapter.

Chapter 2 has switched scene and brought Marc into the picture nice and early and from here I found myself engrossed in the novel as I did in the previous books.

It all seems so real, with specific detailing in just the right places to guide the readers imagination, without forcing ideas or disrupting the flow of the story.

I do like it when a first impression allows you enough to get stuck in and boy am I stuck in after those first 38 pages.

My one criticism is that there is slightly too much past story detail included, but it's understandable for those who haven't read the preceding novels,or who have forgotten in the interim.

James Swallow is quickly becoming one of my top action writers and I have recommended NOMAD to numerous friends who enjoy this genre.

"Ghost" already seems to be delivering another thriller
