Don't judge a book by it's cover.

I came to this book thinking it would be a humourous book about a girl with a crush. However whilst this is true to a degree, this book is much more than that. It has a positive, feminist message about being yourself and loving the skin you are in. It also tackles a storyline about cyber bullying. In addition the main character is a football player.
So yes the book is funny in places and it does all wrap up nicely in the end but it does not ignore issues which are very real to young teenagers today. I am very much looking forward to recommending this book to the year 7 and 8 student at my school. The diary style entry will mean that they will feel are progressing quickly through the book. I feel that this is a perfect next step for those who are fans of The Dork Diaries or who want a more up to date version of Angus, Thongs and Full Frontal Snogging by Louise Rennison.
