I wasn't quite sure what to expect from this book but right from the beginning I warmed to the main character Lara. She is a star footballer which was great to read as womens football increases in popularity and the importance of getting girls to play is so key. She is also funny, quirky and a little nervous like most teenagers.
As the story develops and her and her friends start their glow up, she experiments with her look to try and get her crush to notice her but I love that he already has just the way she is - exactly what we want young girls to be reading.
It showcases the damage that social media can cause but also how friendships are so key as a teenager and ultimately that being yourself is exactly what you should be.
Great book, I would recommend to any young adult or parent of one. Good character depth and great messages for young people reading this book.
