Lara is rather a good character. She is trying to be the best in football and win 100 matches, yet she is still struggling with herself. It is something that most teens I think would go through and understand where she was coming from. I think that the story is very much written in a humorous way, especially when Lara was reporting on the dramatic ways that she messed up. She is so clumsy, it’s ridiculous. I rather liked her and Caiden’s first encounter and I am certain that he liked her from the moment that he saw her - no glow up required. She has issues with her brother, her journal being put out there for all to see, and the mena girls that she has the deal with. It is very much drama central. I really liked that her friends were very supportive of her no matter what she did. I also liked how strange they were as well, (the howling at the moon scene to commune with nature was a bit of an odd one). It was quirky enough to make me laugh, but also the issues that Lara has to deal with were quite real and relatable. Though a few things were very much ‘really, what more could happen?’ It seemed like everything that could go wrong for Lara, did. She did not catch a break at all. I was quite pleased when she finally got support from her mother and things were on the up for her.
Fab read for teenagers!
