A wonderful, fun young adult novel with heart and soul.

Lara Bloom is a warm and engaging lead, and the novel includes both segments of teenage diaries (always a nostalgic thing for me... you can almost picture the journal with a fuzzy pink cover) as well as dialogue between a fabulous gang of mates, all with their different personalities and styles.

Took me back to the joys and horrors of being a teenager. I loved the messages of self-acceptance and love. It was also great to see the exchanges between the extended family and how parents / relatives can be both maddening and brilliant.

Wonderful too to find that Lara Bloom embraces her wild hair, her love of football, and her amazing uniqueness in the world.

For teenagers battling to fit in, this would be a great gift. It's an "easy read" in the prose style and short segments, great for a quick reading blast in the bath!
