Dee Benson really captures the worries and difficulties that teenage girls face as they grow from childhood to puberty and the teenage years Glow Up Lara Bloom firstly and most importantly carries the message of being the best possible version of yourself that you can possibly be for yourself not for anyone else. Along the way the author tackles bullying, young love, sibling rivalry and arguments and other concerns that teenagers all around the world have as they negotiate the tricky path of finding yourself with so many outside pressures. Lara is fortunate to have three very supportive friends, Anaya, Kayleigh and Becky. Lara is planning to meet them towards the end of the summer break when she is delayed because her brother, Danny, has found her diary and forced her to do his chores. One of the friends has been suggesting they 'glow up' during the break with little enthusiasm from the other girls however they decide for various reasons to go ahead with the plan with mixed success at times. There are of course boys that each of the girls like, once again with mixed success. This is a great read for all teenage girls and I highly recommend it. I wish it had been available when I was a teenager.
