First novels are always exciting in my opinion. Will they grab you? Will it be a hidden gem? Have we stumbled across a talented writer? The answer to all these questions is YES. This book is so utterly charming and exactly what the heart needs at this point in time.
This story centres around three main characters, all in the same family. We have Millie, Kevin and Aideen. Each utterly frustrated with life and each other really. This book is a snapshot into the generations. The grandmother who feels ignored and like she’s being treated as if she’s going crazy, the teenager who doesn’t feel like she can really be herself and likewise, gets sent away to boarding school and the dad in the middle who seems a little lost because of the perils of family life.
This book was a charming read and a promising start from this writer. I laughed and enjoyed every minute.
