When I read the first chapters I was intrigued and captured into thinking that I would be laughing out loud at the antics of a lovely but eccentric lady BUT the anticipation-just like when you go the chipoil for a fish and chip supper and find the batter is no longer crispy-you wish you had not looked forward to something so much!
Everybody must make up their own mind if they like it.
It was enjoyable and although the characters had at least three pages each I never felt that they ever got to spend real time together.
The book was centered around Millie Gogarty, her son Kevin and a twin-Aideen and to me it felt like the other members of the family were just mentioned occasionally to keep the story going.
I did like the fact that there was intrigue but some parts of the plot seemed a bit too far fetched ie.food supposedly being taken[smuggled]in to an American airport and perhaps because of my age the overuse of the "f" word which although according to my family-is a word I felt it did put me off.
