A charming romp through three generations of the Gogarty family. Grandma Millie, Dad Kevin and Daughter Arleen’s lives are all in very different spots, but their family connection and relationship is the thread that runs through the entire book. The author cleverly moves the plot on from the perspectives of all three, but the reader doesn’t get lost and the story flows well

I particularly liked the character of Millie, a fiery octogenarian who seems to wreck havoc wherever she goes, from crashing her car, escaping from her nursing home, to the twisty end this character has spunk and kindness in equal measure.

The start of the book is perhaps a little slower and the end a little rushed for my liking, but the middle is super and has you turning pages to find out what happens next.

Some of the peripheral characters could perhaps have been explored in a little more detail to add authenticity. Arleen’s sister and her friends have stories of their own that remain untold. Is this intentional? I am sure that the Gogarty family have many more tales to tell. Maybe there will be more books.

I was provided with a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own, with thanks to readers first.
